Also, the system has been designed so that the cable wraps on an aluminum cast drum, which is grooved for each wrap. This design eliminates noise and problems caused by stack winding issues. Unlike other mains powered stair lifts, the cable system is direct drive so there are no pulleys and the cable does not move.
Load bearing – the Summit AC powered stair lift can accommodate 300lbs.
Safety controls – constant-pressure controls ensure that as soon as you stop applying pressure the lift stops moving. Limit switches automatically shut the unit off at the top and bottom of the stairs. Safety sensors placed in the footrest will stop the stair lift on contact with any object on the stairs.
Battery option – a battery back-up is available for the Summit stair lift in case of uninterrupted service should there be a power outage.
